Welcome to the world of TWEENAGE SHUTDOWN. Our task was to take ten bands comprised of primary school aged kids from Inner-Sydney, feed ʻem a load of fizzy-drinks and potato-chips and let them loose in a studio full of vintage gear to play their versions of some favourite Sixties garage and beat tunes.
The results were astounding, these groups of tweenaged psychos knocked us flat with the way they chose to play these songs, the results you hear on this disc have been achieved with the minimum of overdubbing and studio trickery.
We werenʼt looking for perfection or virtuosity, all the kids play really well and best of all seemed to enjoy doing it. What we wanted to capture was the sound of some incredibly raw musicians playing some fantastic tunes from the first psychedelic era.
